I have decided, for real this time, that THIS is the year for Triple Lakes.

This was the marathon I suggested (on a big fat whim) that my brother and I run, the suggestion that got me started as a runner, the one where I opened my mouth and out popped this crazy idea and then, well, you know, no take-backsies.

We trained, and ran the half marathon. (I had healed through a stress fracture and just wasn't ready for the whole thing, and the half was plenty!)

But the seed was planted, and it just kept growing. Two years ago, I ran my first ultra, a 50k, and I thought, HMM, IF I CAN DO THAT...

So, my marathon seed grew into a 40-miler seed.

Here's the thing, though: I took A WHOLE YEAR off from running (for many reasons), didn't water that seed, didn't see that it got ANY sunlight, and yet, it grew, until here we are, me one week into a training plan that FINGERS CROSSED will get me ready.

It's fun to set big scary goals.

It's exciting to chase them.

Wondering if you can actually DO the thing you said you are gonna do.

The Triple Lakes Trail Race is in October. I've got time to build. Last week was WEEK ONE of training.

Now, I don't know if y'all are hip to reading about running schedules and training plans and all. I'll try and make it fun. They'll be lots of doodles along the way, promise.

So...here's to big scary fun exciting goals!

May we set them.

May we chase them.

May we believe in them.

And in ourselves!
